“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-6 ESV
We see how a loveless world can starve men and women for true acceptance. We tend to look for that thing that has evaded us and compromise for even a scent of it. We are hungry for love and the more we stay away from it, the more that hunger grows. We have seen those who have lied, cheated, and stole for love. But a love brought through evil intent isn’t pure love. In fact it’s not love, it’s lust. It’s built off of feelings and emotions. Which are just the vapors of authentic love.
But love is a choice, built on trust, communication, and intimacy. It’s self sacrificial but doesn't sacrifice itself for acceptance. Because someone who knows true love, knows they are loved and they love in return, not to gain. . Love that chooses to lower their guard to receive another is true. It’s a love that doesn't grow old and it doesn’t get bored. It adapts, grows, and matures with time. It doesn’t cast judgment beyond the boundaries of expectation and doesn’t leave one alone.
This love is perfect, sweet, and eternal. It’s tested in fire, perfected by pressure, and solidified by freedom. This is Agape love. It is a love that only comes from our Father, God. He is holy, honest, and true. It’s His love that is your true fulfillment. But His love is a choice, it isn’t forced, it’s optional. This love is dangerous and risky but worth it, it’s priceless and costly. You can choose to be loved by Him or choose the love of another that leaves you empty and wanting.
Let His love permeate your heart, wash away your trauma, the mutilated pieces of your soul, and the scales of pride from your eyes. It’s the love you have searched your entire life for on earth, but little did we know, it didn’t come from earth. It came from the heavenly places and came to earth for you. Even if it was only you, it came for you. Choose perfect, tested, and dangerous love. Agape love. God’s love.
